Rode cover on the outside with no problem in last race over 5/8ths oval.
Left the gate for position.
Sitting 6th, opportunity to pull and flush cover.
Horse not experiencing any issues with equipment.

Cant excuse the driver decision. Came home fastest last 1/4 of the night.

I also have a strict rule when wagering; Never bet less than 2-1. The risk starts to become greater than the reward and sitting out the bet can't really hurt you with either outcome, if the odds are too low. It's statistically asinine to wager on a horse race where there is no value.
