Congress does all the spending then they raise the ceiling deficits when they spend more. Bush having his war deficit, depression set in, obama continued with the war spending, recession, and ACA. The deficit exploded after the early 2000's. Yeah Trumps fault there. Republicans just as guilty in 2017-2020 spending like drunken sailors when they should have been cutting. Fed chair really fucked up raising rates and now admits letting the economy run hot would not have caused any inflation. Trump was right on that and what happened...paying 2.5% in stead of 0 on 20t in interest would have helped chip away at deficit. Bring along covid adding 3t in stimulus with another 2t possible. If Biden wins you can bet another trillion gets past to state and local government. If covid rises and science tells Biden to shut down the economy we will be over 30t easily 1st-2nd quarter of 2021. Shutdown happens forget the current rant of the left media that debt is even with GDP. The country will lose trillions and shrink the US economy and the exploded debt will far out run the US GDP. Factor in massive job loses that will lead to further recessionary or depression levels. We haven't even gotten to tax hikes, college tuition payoffs, healthcare, calls to end fracking, higher prices to be sure for sure on energy. Not long after China will be the global GDP country surpassing the US.
