Most people would rather qualify anyways if off too long. This ain’t good for anybody with any skin or time in this game.
Going forward, racing had better come up with a better way of retaining and attracting new players. If anyone thinks when they flip the switch and turn this game back on that, players will flock to the same old product, is a fool. If qualifying races for horses that have been off for extended periods is a burden to the horsemen and owners, it is imperative to give every effort to inform and protect the betting public. Not only should these horse need to qualify before racing, they should lower the qualifying times to show a real level of competitiveness.
Based on estimation that most tracks will be off for several months, Once they re-open, will every single horse need to qualify before an actual race?Gonna make handicapping very challenging the first couple weeks back
It will be a hot mess. No racing for six months, at least. Then, the arguing, claims of favoritism, start over who gets to qualify first. The last thing anybody wants, is to have to wait around for weeks to squeeze into a qualifier, after racing resumes.
That's a bit much. 6 months ? Not quite. In Ohio the shutdown is only till April 30th.
