when you pay that much your chances of breaking even are low
everything has to go perfectly to even get close
having said that the owners also have many horses they buy at more modest amounts that make decent money so no worries from a cash end

No way Tony lets him out of his barn, stupid to take the horse no upside, if he is good - he was bred to be good and if bad - the trainer is an idiot. How many time have you seen this same scenario. It will be excuse time, big colt, colt sore or some bizarre mysterious problem. He will never say a negative word about this horse. With the many people who are in on him, the pain will be spread out, not like Cancelliere. He took the 825,000 ass kicking on Detour Hanover. Ya donīt see any of these guys go out on a limb like that.

Standing stud, got a mark of 1:50.2 and made 812,300. They got some of their money back. Waited to long to pull plug with Bobby Stewart, good trainer but couldnīt figure him out.

That tactical landing horse doing much?

Won a heat of Hambo maybe?  Set up nicely for the contest with a few good miles under him, but after that, he was done.

They do lose money by buying overpriced stock most of the time.  But for the ones that buy those kind of horses a cool mil is like a franklin to most of us.  Chump Change.

The horse ownership business is not kind to the 99%

Agrred!  And besides that no one in harness racing can afford to lose $1,000,000   No one in harness racing has any real money to chance.  There are a lot of angry people right now. This is a stinker because mathematically it's impossible for a horse to earn back that kind of money.  No harness yearling is worth more than $50,000.   Anything above that is a shot in the dark.  Like I said, the horse looks great and goes great but he has no heart.  It's the easiest thing to spot.  There is nothing wrong with him.  He is just a top tier roach.  No way around that.

Maverick will be lightly raced until Lexington, he will rip out a big trip there & turned out
It's a great game, if you have the means to play

There are dozens of people and organizations who can afford to throw away millions on horseflesh,  Maverick was purchased on potential stud value.  As long as he showed speed if he made money on the track it's a bonus.

Are you serious Brad Grant’s company makes somewhere around $800k a week. Let alone the other players involved

Tactical landing was a work in progress with every start. You could see this horse get more confident under the expert handling of Tackter. I would have loved to see him race as an older horse.
