I've always liked Vernon but listening to Risi scream and watching Daley hump the race bike makes for a long afternoon. Sad that they are shutting down in 3 weeks.

the fault lies squarely on the horsemen and track operators.
they let the sport get gutted by cheats and did nothing to preserve the fans.
they withdrew every penny and put nothing back into the sport.
no future planned just take take take...
they did this to themselves.

Exactly
Been reading same on Facebook racing sites.

😭 wah— we have a product we destroyed so badly that the customer doesn’t want anymore and our sugar daddy ( the casino ) has run out of money to keep propping us up.

😩 wah — it’s the casino fault. We want our check.

With this attitude — think the business will survive ?

This is great news for harness racing. The less tracks the better. Hopefully, when the dust settles, there will only be 3 or 4 tracks left racing, and they will be racing for what they generate in handle. A perfect example is Scioto. When they were the only track racing, they had record,  or near record handles, I believe. America needs less harness racing. Make AMerica Great Again!!! Defund Harness Racing.

You really think a 3 month snapshot of a business operating as the only available store open, is a viable and investable model. Do you just disregard the 20 years of history and the most recent performance. I give Scioto a big nod in their making the best of an opportunity but, it had little or nothing to do with a plan.
If harness racing loses these two venues, it will be a major blow to all racing. It will in fact shrink NY breeding as all races would be on a half mile track. NY would have a great challenge in attracting a Grand Circuit level stallion.
Also, where will these less than $20,000 value horses race?
