thoughts from last night...

emily gaskin is very underrated....she knows her stuff....maybe isnt bubbly enough in her presentation but that doesnt bother me...her content is excellent and she's not only a fairly good handicapper but more importantly she clearly knows harness racing...

i thought gabe took a backseat to peter lurie and when it's harness racing's signature night, i shouldnt be seeing peter lurie more than gabe...their knowledge of the sport is night and day....that said i thought lurie did a decent enough job...he did his homework...studie d up on the races..and did an average job for a guy thats not really a harness racing guy...but whoever made the decision to showcase lurie more than prewitt made a bad decision...i found myself wanting more of gabe's insight and handicapping

then before the last race...rick moore and lurie come on...rick moore says hes one of those guys that just doesnt like using horses with pp11...why?  because he says the 10 horse can start anywhere he wants in the second tier and the 11 must be outside of where the 10 goes...im pretty sure thats an inaccurate comment but im not 100 percent certain of indiana rules...hope someone can set me straight on the facts regarding that comment moore made...and if he's wrong just keep the guy in his office please...

and steve cross??  im not a fan...but i thought his race calls were decent enough last night...at least he didnt call lifetime marks record miles like he always does ( did someone finally tell him the difference??) and overall he had a decnt night...at least up until the last race...when he signed off very abruptly and failed to mention no one caught the hi5 and there will be a nice carryover going into tonight...isnt that the job of a professional announcer??  especially on harness racing's signature night??

as for the races themselves?  i think the racetrack is a really nice track to hold the event..i think the track plays fair enough...the facility is a very nice one...yet..a part of me still feels this event belongs to mohawk or the big m...especially for reasons of handle...

forgot to mention one other thing...it was great to see hollywood on the broadcast...like him or not he should be on every crown broadcast  until he decides he doesnt wanna do it...great passion for harness racing...thought he added a very nice touch...
