topsham fair
« on: August 09, 2021, 11:07:46 AM »
so nice to be back at the fair. a great time of the year. so sad very sad to see that nothing worked. sam machines not taking money. tellers that could not punch a straight trifecta. no video which after my horse gets dq ed would have been nice to watch the replay. tote board with assorted payoffs, was it $2 or $1 or 50 cents  no real announcements that were totally correct.   i love the fairs. as an industry they help create interest in racing. i wish day one was not such a disaster.  on the horse side i havent seen so many dehydrated horses in one day for years. i kept waiting for one to drop in the winners circle.

And for those of us without credentials, a $15 charge to bet on 5-horse fields.  Would like to support the fairs, but not at those prices.

fairs charge way too much to get in and park. that will not help betting handle.

44 horses (before any scratches) going to post today—40 assured of going home with a check.  Participation prizes for everyone—no one leaves empty handed (except the bettors who paid $15 for the privilege to get on the grounds).  Hope the remainder of the fair season is better.

My gang of four who went balked at shelling out the 60.00 to get in and simply went to the Brunswick Otb parlor and bet there instead.

dont blame anyone at not wanting to pay $15 to get into a track. skowhegan next week. hope they dont charge that much to get in. anyone wonder why the fairs are on life support.

HOPEFULLY THE FAIRS WILL REALIZE IT JUST ISNT WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT TO HOLD HARNESS RACING AND TELL HARNESS RACING TO GO FUCK ITSELF.  FAIRS WILL MAKE MORE OFF THE GRANDSTAND WITH A CONCERT OR A DEMO DERBY AND HARNESS RACING WILL BE WITHOUT A TRACK FOR THE SUMMER

THE FAIR ITSELF IS THE ATTRACTION, NOT THE HARNESS RACING
