Hoosier No.9

It wouldn't take much to convince me the 2-5 shot No. 5 wasn't meant to win. I don't see many drivers that refuse to pull and wait instead for the passing lane.

seriously

He's too patient at times.  It is one thing to be patient when you are on the 4th best horse following live horses, but when you are the best, following Don Eash at 68-1, you need to be moving.

I doubt he'll "learn" simply because there is no incentive in this "sport" to really improve.  No one is standing in line to take your job.  Hell, 74 people know this thing exists!

And then you have people within the game giving Joe Bongiorno a hard time.  Yeah, I don't want a young, talented aggressive driver.  Give me a 57 year old that has forgotten more than I'll ever know who can touch his knees.

Bender is a young guy who's learning his craft...he errs on the side of being conservative vs being too over-aggressive...no doubt about it...but my opinion is that's the way to go...i watch him mostly at hawthorne and he drives the same way there...mostly staying covered up and saving his horses until the lane...he's got good hands...is learning and improving by the week...and he'll be a fairly decent driver in a couple years....not saying he's a Dunn or a Timmy T...But he'll be out East and will be replacing his brother-in-law on all of Erv's horses in a couple years...he's way more talented than Marcus...not even close...let the kid gain his experience...
