An honest question......Doe s $650 a month seem a little high to board a horse?
We had hunter/jumper horses a while ago and it was no where near that much.
My next question is what do trainers charge per day for a horse that is actually racing at smaller tracks like vernon and monticello?
Its no wonder these tracks have 6 horse fields a majority of their races.

i don't think it's high here in NY area.. i haven't owned a horse in almost 12 years but even then i think it was costing us $1200 a month in expenses ( feed, bedding , stall rent, shoeing and other basic needs.. it's not cheap around here .

So what does a trainer charge?
You are telling me that it is close to $3k a month to race a 4 claimer at monticello?

i just listened to Mike's latest youtube.. He said he includes about $5 a day for himself .. Seems pretty reasonable to me .. Obviously he's doing this out of love for the horses and if he earns a couple of bucks for doing so he deserves it for all the time he dedicates to the horses..

Law and order that is exactly my point.  Don't keep telling people how great you are and that there should be a parade in your honor.  The work he is doing is great, but it's ruined by him begging and wanting a pat on the back.  Who would donate a cent to a guy as unprofessional as him posting that nonsense on here.  Maybe I should take a shot at your parenting, as I've heard it was less than exemplary!

Actually, i donate annually for many many years to SRF.. If Mike opens up an similar organization i'd have no issue helping him too.. His heart seems to be in the right place as far as the horses welfare .. To be honest i've always felt that on a larger scale the responsibility of the welfare of theses equine athletes is the responsibility of all involved owners , trainers , drivers , etc . and a fair way to raise money post racing career would be to take a fixed sum ( let's say $50-$100) off the top of each purse and deposited into a fund of some sort.. The deduction in purses would barely be felt by anyone across the board..
