Northfield penalty -- interesting if you watch the replay
« on: January 13, 2023, 11:05:11 AM »
MOORE, RORY D GRAFTON, OH YOB 1959
Nfld on 1/4/2023 FINED: $500
DRIVING - 30 DAYS, 1/7/2023 THRU 2/5/2023
UNSATISFACTORY DRIVE -LACK OF EFFORT
While driving #5 Gotta Have Cash in race 5 on 1/4/23 he did rein in before the finish and
failed to use his utmost exertion to obtain a winning performance form his horse. His action
was against the best interest of racing. Mr. Moore is hereby fined $1000 and issued a
driving suspension of 60 days. The penalty will be reduced to a fine of $500 and the driving
suspension reduced to 30 days if not appealed. O.S.R.C.-3769-17-11(D)(2) 17-99 12-
26(A)(10) 12-99 If the fine is not paid to the judges by 1/17/23 he shall suspended.

From what I watched - He floated off the gate and when searching for the rail, noone was going to help him...
Parked the race, he let horse trot up along the outside
Jason Thompson pulled from 3 hole  (down backside) and Rory Moore moved along with him.
Top of stretch Thompson gained control with Moore off his wheel with a good hold
Near the wire Moore lifted lines, horse continued to have trot, finishing second at 18-1

I watched the back half the race again, to see if horse looked rough gaited anywhere, he did not appear so.
** note, the horse came back to race at MVR and with Josh Sutton couldn't hit a trot.

Interesting video, imagine someone called the judges or Commission. Would be surprised if the judges acted upon it by their own decision. Horse parked, 18-1 finished second with a non full time driver sitting behind it -- would have thought it would be a race written off and onto the next one.

Jason Thompson was 16-1, Moore was 18-1 and the exacta 4-5 came back $274, all payouts looked pretty much in line.

Of course it's Ohio, don't appeal and will cut the penalty down.

What do ya think ?

the dont appeal and reduce the fine is total bullshit
in other words dont make us do any work and we will automatically reduce it
hold the original suspension and if the presumed guilty party wants to appeal so be it,
the key is brining n these up quickly and not having the appeal process take 6 months

Horse was running in and was crushing a shin the entire mile, did what he had to to keep him onstride. They did it to appease the gamblers cause it didn’t look good.

Why not go after the real cheats.
Starting with Sugg.

Rory Moore couldn’t cheat if he wanted to. Dumber than a box of rocks and did the same shit in Chicago when he raced here. And they will never go after Sugg and the obvious cheats. It’s go after the little guy to make it look like they’re doing something. Why not go after the juicing trainers and owners? Instead let’s just go after a guy who drives ten races every year.

ok, i understand the comments
but here is the deal
they come a 32 second last 1/4 and this guy still has tight lines under the wire, never urged the horse at all
so yes maybe the driver is not too bright, and sure maybe the horse was hitting a shin etc
99% of the gamblers have no knowledge of that even if true
so you are right, they did it to appease gamblers because it looked bad , and it was a bad look

What’s going to be a bad look is NFLD hyping up a trainer that’s staring down a serious positive. At least according to rumor anyways, so take that for what back stretch rumors are worth.
