A person with absolutely nothing to lose and no fear or retribution, starts talking about what most people in the business suspect.  I remember a guy in Canada started posting lots of stuff and I think gave a timeline he’d list names. Just before that date he was murdered.  Pigland probably remembers his name.

Mike, it’s amazing to me how you constantly pick on Mark Ford. I’m not going to get into any particulars, but you’ve had your share of problems in the horse business as well as your private life. I’ve known Mark a long time over half his life.  He’s a class guy would help anybody out he pays all his bills and unlike most came from nothing and built an empire from the horse business. You have a vendetta against Mark because he wouldn’t allow you on his farm because you don’t pay your bills. I’m just stating facts.  Nobody’s perfect but I could tell you firsthand, Mark has helped so many people that were down on their luck without hesitation. As president of the SBOA not many people know this but he donates his salary of $130, 000 or so back to the standardbred’s breeders association. That’s a fact. I knew Mark when he had nothing he’s the same person now and he was back then -a stand up “character” that doesn’t take any bullshit from anybody. He’s the first one to reach in his pocket to help others, countless amount of deadbeats on this farm over the years that he’s helped out
but you don’t mention these things.  Anyway, I just had to vent.

Normally, I look at this site as a guest only. But I can’t sit here in silence while you pretend this guy is some kind of standup classy person. This man is a horrible human being. And that is putting it politely. He’s pulled all kinds of strokes that he’s only gotten away with because of the positions of power he’s put himself in. If he’s such a stand up guy, then why does he allow beards at his farm? And knowingly? He’s refused to help horseman with raising issues in New Jersey purely because they weren’t stable that his farm. And why is it that people who can’t normally race at the meadowlands from other locations are all of a sudden good to go if they moved to the training center he owns? You know the one, the one with all the asbestos and dead horses underneath it That the government is suing him for. And as for worrying about his daughter, reading all these comments, don’t make me laugh. Just one look at his wife’s Facebook and you’ll realize he has a little to no involvement in her life. Pitrelli is definitely targeting specific people, but it doesn’t mean he’s wrong and it doesn’t mean these people shouldn’t be held accountable for any wrongdoing.

So this USTA director and “horseman’s” president has and is knowingly accepting of beards at his training center, accepted Josh Marks at his farm and used him to train his own horses, is being sued by the government and a neighbor for millions, refused to help horsemen looking to race in New Jersey because they wouldn’t stable at his farm and has most people scared to talk for fear of being punished and/or manipulated by him. Doesn’t sound like the classy guy being talked about here. Mike Petroleum might not be a 100% stand up guy with regards to his personal life but I’m finding out more and more that he’s not actually far off the mark. It’s amazing what you can find out just by asking around and a little research. Hopefully the higher powers start paying attention to some of these things and people like this are held accountable the same way people in the lower levels of the business are.

Agree with all of this but the problem is he has connections to all the "higher" powers so who does he actually have to answer to. If anyone questions him that is not in a position above him or knows someone that is above him, he will, can and has made life miserable for the people that do so.. he has no empathy for anyone or anything and will ruin someone's livelihood and reputation just for fun, and will do it at the expense of friends and family of his own, without a second thought. Glad to see more and more people that are aware of his behavior but getting anyone to come out and speak against him in real life is another thing.
