The days of taking cute pictures and smiling and telling them their horses will be fine ar over.

You will actually have to produce now.

No more breaking down 36 of 40 horses, having 1 champion and acting like you can train anymore.

Or back to Sweden with your tail between your legs, as predicted

Without the gas the guy is average at best. Never been overly impressed with anything he puts out.

Cadillac moon still hasn't earned a cent
Swanky hanover can't keep up
If you get 40 yearlings a year where are all your former horses?

Sounds to me like he is going at Melander.  Kind of unfair since he doesn't really race overnights and those are the months he doesn't race.

50 years ago,  Billy Houghton would get upward of 100 babies every season. Some of the best bred in the world. He would get a couple great ones and some very good colts and fillies. The vast majority would be common overnights or non starters.
Same story for everyone who participates at that level.

I think the breeding aspect is way overrated.  Yes, you don't want trash...but top pedigree doesn't mean as much as people think.  Have a nice race mare to a proven producer and roll the dice.  Don't spend $800k hoping for the best.

Why doesn't he race overnights
He used to
What happened to all his horses?
He mentioned he has 2 5 year Olds.
Where are all his 4 year olds?

[/qOlds?

But how many did he break down?
And what percentage of his 40 yearlings were 200k 300k 400k? Not a barn full

I don't know for sure where his older horses went but considering most of his owners are
Swedes I'll bet a bunch of them race in Europe.

I think they sell them off after their 3yo season for the most part.  That's how his operation is set up.  Kind of all their eggs in one basket so to speak.  His earning per start is very high, but so is the cost of most of the stable.
