« on: May 31, 2023, 12:23:04 PM »
Usta banned 3D bikes until investigation is completed.
the last bike I remember them banning after years of use was the cheetah.

USTA is not a regulatory agency, so how do they ban bikes?

Just for fun I went to the Regulatory page of The USTA to see the list of tested and approved sulkys.
Anyone want to guess what I found.
Approved Sulky Companies. Over/ under 25
Approved and tested Sulky Models. Over/ under 100

I didn't see any model listed as 3D or anything close.

That’s a BS list. When the USTA was sued by Cheetah bike 25 yrs ago they admitted in court that they are not a regulatory agency. That’s the joke here. There testing is BS , they put a strap on the center of the arch by the seat apply pressure til it breaks the bike and if the bike doesn’t fail until it hits amount of pressure then it passes. No fatigue over time testing, or side to side constant motion test. That’s just to recommend to ways to simulate wear over time. These type test would give them ideal of a driver using a bike 3000 starts. To simplify, EXP the coat hanger test. Bend the coat hanger once doesn’t break, strong coat hanger. Bend it 10 times breaks.
But they don’t do any of this, cause it would cost  a substantial amount to make buy the machines that would preform such tests.
So who’s at fault, 3D or the “Regulatory Agency that test the bike and passed it”

Opps  I guess I got to throw out all my coat hangers and pound nails in the wall.
OH Wait, If I put to much weight on the nail it will bend. So what do I do now?

It's called "metal fatigue ".Same thing that the TSA looks for during plane crash investigations.

White rabbit is 100% spot on. There are a lot of factors that go into bike wear. The useless ta needs to either do better testing or stay out of it.

I remember how cool I thought it was when I got my Cheetah back in the 90's. Going from a hickory shaft to the all metal was an adjustment. The.whip hits on the shaft sure sounded different

The Harmer bike did break, but they made a bs repair and they were allowed too keep using it, I say that in jest because once again the USTA is not a regulatory agency but a money grab agency. The Harmer bike fell out of favor when the UFO came out.

I saw the replay & that was ugly. Real lucky to have no serious human or equine injuries.

If this bike is banned, how come drivers are still using them?
