My favorite meet is starting today.....Saratoga

I am very excited that Saratoga opens today. It's always tough to handicap, but you can make some decent money if you pick your spots. Last years meet, i bet 93 races and cashed on 39 of them. With my usual staring bankroll of $2500, i ended the meet with $5989. Certainly, not a millionaire, but i enjoyed the racing. While i expect the usual Pletcher/Brown trainer battle, i will not count out Linda Rice. She is  "loaded for bear", and i expect her to have a big meet. Good luck to all!

Bet two races on opening day. Hit one and missed one. Down $37 for the meet. Going to try and get the money back right off the bat betting #6 Awesome Czech (De Paz/Franco) in the first. I'll take $2 exacta keys 6/12478 and reversed. And $5WP on the #6. Total Investment $30

And you expect some different results now?  I have been doing it for 50 plus years myself, and finally have learned to only bet one or two races a day, and not chase my losses.  The last 5 years or so I have been turning a nice profit.  Too soon old, and too late smart I guess.

I average 1-2 races a day. I've made a profit 11 of the past 15 years. And i only bet five "meets". The "Fall/Winter Meet" at Aqueduct, The "Fall and Spring" meets at Keenland, Santa Anita's Oak Tree (now called the "Autumn Meet"), and Saratoga's racing.

A pretty rough day to finish the weekend at the "Spa". With only one horse paying over $10 to win, i made one wager on todays card. In the 5th, i bet $20 WP on #5 Saqeel. He was up on the lead until he "spit the bit " to run third. Five wagers so far. One winner. Bankroll at $2375.00. Back to it on Wednesday!
