Second best horse in the Meadowlands Pace 2023?
« on: July 18, 2023, 10:30:07 PM »
As you all know I am at the top of the Cofederate fan club. I think he will win 1:46 flat this year for sure and may pan out to be an all time great. At this point he is in a different galaxy from his rivals. That aside, after watching the replay over and over and crunching the numbers, I think the second best horse in the race flew under the radar somewhat. Anybody know who I am referring to?

The only horse that was moving forward in the lane without total clearance and ran right up on other horses at the wire was Save America. Had no choice but to stay inside with zero outer flow from last.

Save America but the horse completely needs a trip to be factor in these races longterm

in other news Voukefalas trainer talked a good talk but what was his excuse for his horse...for starters they need to bounce that awful driver of him and get a grand circuit guy like Sears

Exactly! SAVE AMERICA. Agreed it was all rail and he shot that tunnel down the backstretch, but his last 3/4s were insane. Something like 1:18.3   zeroed in on him in replays. Looked strong and "interested" start to finish.

Your right, he is a 100% trip horse and has lost to far lesser when trip wise things did not go his way. BUT, was clearly the only horse gaining any ground and could have easily been second best on this night. As for Stratton, nice kid, but surely needs a top guy and Jordan is not that guy.

Time will tell this year. The horse had every chance in the NA Cup when blasting off the gate and sitting a good trip only to be flat in the lane. Clearly needs many things to go his way and that does not usually equate to success in top level events. Clearly would not have come home in 25.2 from four or fifth over this past Saturday so the trouble line would always seem to lead to bettors over betting next out.

Agreed about being overbet. I am looking a bit further down the road. I thought Matt K. handled him and himself well in a major event.

Love these guys who knock drivers if the horse was any good I don't care who drives them he could not keep up to his cover no driving error horse just no good just a N.J. breed racing against the best Sears would have not made rat go any faster.

Dude, go back to counting how many bites it takes to get to center of a tootsie roll pop.Drivers matter - switch charlie may rider from miller to anybody else and no ones talking about charlie may. Sears may have been top a decade ago, now  hes on verge of being placed on waivers or joining amateur club.  ngc3
