Remember Ken Iulo. he had some horses who could function. I recall Screen Director K winning with Kenny in lower level conditions at the BigM

When he fell over the rail at Saratoga it was the first time he hit him hard with the whip and it spooked him and he jumped sideways.

JP Morel told me that Clint was worse than an amateur out there.

JP MOREL   WOW 5'6 with arms that dragged on the ground. I was more of a Percy Davis man, myself . Great with a trotter like Overland Hanover.

I recall vividly the closing night of the summer Roosevelt meet in 1976.  In the very last race Ken Iulo won (I think with a NZ horse possibly) and the teletimer malfunctioned and posted a track record time.  I also recall that the win price was around 8.40 (funny the things we can see so vividly!)

Ken Iulo memorably affixed a rear view mirror to his helmet so he could see who had pulled and was advancing on the outside. Not much of a driver, though.
