Yearling prices on the way down
« on: September 11, 2023, 11:44:18 AM »
I will be surprised to see yoy yearling prices up this year. Breeders are flooding the market with new stock. Small ownership being squeezed out of market by inflated high ownership costs and low ROI.  Only large stables have the capital, but will be bidding against themselves.

If the price of the yearlings have become too high and are pushing the little guy out, just say thank you. With the cost of bringing up baby, continued training fees, cost of vets, cost of transportation etc. etc., it makes little sense to own a horse. If you are an owner-trainer maybe you can make some money.
