people don’t dump tens of thousands of dollars of their own hard earned money into these animals to purposefully injure them
Ie; Allard, Coleman,  Navarro, surick, Crawford, Fred Bourgeault and many many others who knowingly acted with purpose in harming the animal for the almighty dollar

I believe JM MacKenzie is his lawyer....seems to represent all horseman across Canada. He's a smart guy that's been around the business his whole life.  Actually, his brother Raz MacKenzie trained the good trotter Wesgate Crown years back.

Wesgate Crown had one of the all-time great 2yo trotting seasons.  I had a few raceway trotters at that time sired by Royal Prestige (his sire) so followed him avidly.  He won the Haughton, the Valley Victory and the Breeders Crown.  He also did a time trail that made him (early 90's) the fastest trotter ever up until then.  He sort of fell back in the next few years, but came back with a vengence at 5 or 6 and won the Maple Leaf Trot and the Breeders Crown as well as being sent over to Europe and finishing 2nd in the Elitlopp and 3rd in the Prix de France.

please keep in mind that in most cases( not all) the trainers have  little money invested in the horse, its the owners who pay the  big bucks for yearlings
if a trainer cannot do well and get those yearlings to succeed on the track the chances are they will not continue to have those owners send them yearlings ( i.e they lose their job)

Remember someone saw enough to actually act and send in a video in a society where there is never a whistle blower. The video submitted had enough on it to immediately scratch 3 or 4 horses in a so called “nice guy stable”  from races going for $300,000 within 24 hours. Those two things alone tell me the guy is a POS and he deserves the penalty he gets. If his suspension is cleared we better be able to see this abuse video. I’m Certain this man is trash and an absolute idiot. Pissed away a good career. Hope the guy likes flipping burgers or working factory shift work. That’s best case if the real law doesn’t get involved and penalizes the man as an animal abuser. Absolute moron who shouldnt get two chances with this sort of thing.

Information obtained over the course of an AGCO inspection revealed that Mr. Beaton had excessively used a whip on a yearling he was training, thereby committing an act of cruelty and engaging in misconduct which is prejudicial to the best interest of racing, which are violations of the Rules of Standardbred Racing. Mr. Beaton’s horseperson licence has now been fully suspended for two years, from Oct. 13, 2023 to Oct. 12, 2025.

Wonder if he will still walk around like his shit don't stink now.  Bravo AGCO for nailing him to cross.

Amen

well there you go
appears he was guilty
lets hope this means he has no association with racing for 2 years
no beards, cant be seen at a track or training center
go get another job for 2 years
if allowed back should be on a probation and watched closely

Unfortunately I believe the above to be untrue. It's likely that he can attend the public areas of any track except for the winner's circle and it's likely that he can train horses not of racing age or take a maintenance job at a training centre.
I would be delighted to be wrong. He's scum.

Should be barred from training, grooming , all paddocks, tracks etc. I assume he will have to go to the states to be a second trainer for someone, had the same role with Casie well over a decade…

I doubt he will disappear from the game for two years.  And I'm not sure how vigilant AGCO or and US jurisdictions will be monitoring it.

I’m sure he feels much smaller today than he did when he was beating on that baby. Earned it.

Unfortunately New Jersey is the only place in NA that you have to be licensed on a training center
