   John was overweight to say the least. Met him at Hollywood Park many years ago.  I saw him last at Lexington.  He always had a lot of junkers but no luck.  I called Northfield several years ago when he came to mind but he had died of a heart attack the year before.  He was a good man.  Always a smile and something good to say. Hence I will miss him as a person. He was kin to Tessa and JD.

Tessa’s maiden name is Roland. From her father’s side of the family she is at minimum third generation horse person. On her mother’s side of the family she is a fourth generation horsewoman. She was cleaning stalls and jogging horses from a young age. Both of her parents drove at the Iowa fairs. She has two brothers who drive and train. She has done an outstanding job keeping older claimer’s racing. JD may have been the named trainer previously, but I can tell you Tessa has always done more than her share of the work.
