Eye Protection
« on: January 18, 2024, 06:17:32 PM »
Mud, dirt, and fresh poop.
Drivers have glasses, helmet screens, fenders, and mud aprons to protect their eyes from flying stuff.
What do horses have for eye protection that drivers don't have?
How many know without looking it up.
If you know just post you know, and don't give it away for a couple days.
Guesses welcomed

Maybe the answer is just an old punch line from an "I Love Lucy" show.

The episode where she drove a harness horse at circa 1950s Roosevelt Raceway?

Hoof Beats had a story and picture of a horse racing with goggles (like Kareem Jabbar's) due to a prior race track injury.

FYI
If your horse is off it's feed, and you look it in the eye, and the third eyelid is half way across the eye ball, then your horse is in serious trouble!
Best to put the poor horse in a stall where in a couple days you can more easily drag out it's dead carcass.
Why?
A prolapsed third eyelid is a sure sign of lockjaw(tetanus).
