I think it's necessary. The tracks are now lying in the bed they made. If the goal is full and competitive fields, large pools to bet into, then from a track's perspective, what should they do? Race more days, have less races per day, with shorter fields? This will result in smaller pools and yes, ultimately smaller handle? The horse population is what it is. I think we need more consolidation in races, race days, and tracks, so yes, in the short run, yes, less race days and less races. It will raise the overall product in time. Not tomorrow. But in time. Too many people who run racetrack's don't know anything about the racetrack business.
Like when tracks raise the takeout and complain about ADW sites.
