I agree, I said last fall on here when he raced at Lexington if Nancy could figure out that slight hitch he had he would be unbeatable

Karl will end up being known as the greatest trotter ever.

Nevele Pride won 57 out of 67
Mack Lobell won  71 out of 94

Karl wont even come close to half that amount of wins

your fast times mean nothing

..."fastest times mean nothing"... Why is it when racing a $5K claimer or a world class stakes horse, if someone says, "my horse won at the Red Mile yesterday", the very next thing out of everyone's mouth is, "how fast did they go"?

the reason is an antiquated thinking, aging fan base who remember the races in the 70s insist they do

5k claimers go 1:48 at Lexington these days

was anyone obsessed with how fast Niatross or Albatross paced ?

and if time is such a revered stat--why still time them in 1/5 of a second and not 1/110 of a second like the tbreds did years ago?

aging, dying sport like pinochle

Don't want to interrupt the personal hatred and animosity here, but getting back to Karl...I watched this Q closely yesterday. The entire crop has a lot of catching up to do to get up to where this colt is. Sure, it's May 1, but he is so far ahead of the rest in where he is at and what he's doing -- and he makes it look easy. Whew. If yesterday's qualifier is his best, and this is where he stays, he still might be the best. He just makes a 26 and change quarter look easy, does it so effortless, etc. Even his third quarter where he opened up, he simply does what he does in what seems to be little to no effort. The road to the Hambo always has horses turning the corner quickly, coming on from the middle of the pack, and so on. This time, any of them, have a long way to go.

Also, Linda Toscano's horse It's My Show also won his Q in 1:49 and 3.

Does anyone look at the equipment he wears? The driving bit is usually on horses that lock on a line. I wish Karl nothing but good luck, but that bit is a cause of concern for me.

The burst of insane speed he showed half way down the lane to leave TCI in his wake was unbelievable and he still have about 5 gears.

If he stays healthy he could be the best ever like Mike says.

He's got a long way to go but TCI looked like a maiden against him.  TCI should come back better as well so it will be interesting watching them compete.
