please clarify  your description of harness racing handouts and welfare
you make it sound like people in the industry sit on their asses and collect for doing nothing (sure there is lots of people outside harness racing who get that benefit but we wont get into that)
i see people working long hours in sometimes undesirable weather and travelling around caring for horses

of course there is a few bad apples( always has been , always will be) but most trainers, drivers and grooms earn their money

So it’s somehow better to start go fund me accounts and not follow through on money accepted than taking state handouts?  Both seem in the same ballpark to me.  tmbz1

Glad you said it. The people in my group CHOSE to chip in. You lowlives take money from people who work their asses off and have no choice where their money is going. You are all no different than being forced to pay for people coming into this country illegally or forced to pay for people who refuse to work and are able bodied. I did that once with full transparency and the results were documented for all to see. You have taken welfare for DECADES AND WANT MORE! BAHAHAHAAA  ngc3

So? How about people who have worked their entire life for any company that went bankrupt. Why don't they get endless welfare like harness racing. How many horses died from PEDs at K Mart or any other now defunct well known chain while the state funded it? If someone opens a factory that manufactures rotary phones does that mean just because people work the taxpayers have to support something that is obsolete? Harness Racing is criminal, abuses animals and contributes nothing to society. Veterans live on the streets so professional manure shovelers can have a job? I don't consider caring for horses work. Never have and never will. But don't ever try to compare this disgusting industry with other people who have worked to better others and lost it all with no welfare saving them. You really are insane.

Ok. Take away all the subsidies. Tell me if it can stand on its own. You really live is a fantasy world. Went bankrupt early 2000s. Take away racinos, casinos, sports betting and state welfare. You have any clue how many tracks wouldn't exist had it not been for welfare support? Bitter? No I'm realistic. Keep believing the so called industry will be supported forever with other people's money and see how that works. How is harness racing in Florida doing? Wake up.

Think about it...
It's 2024, here's some tracks that would not exist without WELFARE.

Meadowlands
Freehold
Harrahs Philly
Yonkers
Dover
Pocono
Buffalo
Plainridge
Bangor
Batavia
Vernon
Tioga
MVG
Hoosier
Northfield

How's Florida doing?
How's Michigan doing?
How about Cali?

Shall I continue?

I stand corrected. Almost forgot harness racing does contribute to keeping kill pens full. Well done jerkoffs. Beg for more welfare and keep killing horses you created.

If only we knew a guy that runs a farm now with lots of open stalls and paddock space.

Don’t you have tons of stalls and paddock space available to you now?  Seems like you’re in a position to help several horses.

Well aren't you special. Stalls are full. I have three retired mares here and a gelding. One mare was in trouble that I work with every day. None are in kill pens. Isn't it funny how yet another anonymous coward attempts to spin it back on me, yet can't show what they've done to help a horse in need? Also offered a paddock to anyone with a horse in the city that needs a break and they can't afford it. What's even funnier is how quickly you showed you are just another welfare recipient from harness racing and immediately saying SOMEONE ELSE should do the job you people don't do. Fucking PRICELESS.  ngc3

Oh look you had to change your post!  ngc3
Now it's find someone who will take in the horses you have destroyed and support them. Again assuming I have open stalls? Sorry, all rented. And yes there are paddocks available as I said in my previous response. So you twice are stating someone else has to take in your horses. Class! Just looking for even more handouts.

Another example of how welfare recipients treat their horses after racing. You scumbags make the carriage horse people look like angels.   tmbz1

thanks MP
i am well aware of the state of the industry and where the majority of the purse money comes from
that does not mean the industry is bankrupt
could it be one day , its possible but not right now

again i will remind you and others that those "subsidies" you claim come from casinos rights to operate and get circulated back to the tracks

also i am sickened  to see even one standardbred go to a kill pen and i know it happens but what is the solution beyond what some good people are currently trying to do

i also hate the way most veterans are treated and no one has fixed that either

When you spend more than you earn, it's called bankrupt. Take away the welfare and get back to me. This is the business equivalent of living with your parents for free while you're 50 years old and saying you're a success.  ngc3

incorrect MP
the way a balance sheet works is when your expenses are higher than your revenue ( from all sources) you are trending to bankruptcy
please define the "welfare" that horse racing receives
before you said subsidy, which is it welfare or subsidy , there is a difference
if as you say horse racing receives "welfare" that counts as a revenue stream, you cant just take it away like its not there

when/if  that revenue stream dries up than it may be a different storey
