Freehold Raceway Sports Book
« on: June 14, 2024, 02:22:10 PM »
I just received the word that the Sports Book at Freehold Raceway will officially close on August 23rd.  I hope that the racing ceases as well and the land gets sold for condos or another shopping center.  Far too many dirtbags hanging out there waiting for their own funerals in my opinion.  Total POS's that I wish would consider suicide and rid the earth of their scum.

Freehold's purses are subsidized by the state of New Jersey-not the sportsbook

it appears the owners--Pennwood--aka Penn National and Parx-didnt want to pay the licensing fee to the state

who goes to a sportsbook when there are a dozen or more options to open an account on your phone?

Where will the bums hang out?  They need to be in the air conditioning this time of year.

We here out here that out east has a few tracks struggling. What’s up with both freehold and Chester ? Freehold hasn’t had a good handle in a dogs age . Racing horrible quality. Track conditions suspect . Rumors probably true . Chester no handle either and another with a bad racing surface. Looks bad

Harrah's Philly purses suck too.  That casino does business yet the purses never go up.  The horsemen are demanding their fair share of the welfare!  Cue the resident know it all!   ngc3

All the gambling organizations want the horsemen to voluntarily leave on their own. This way the organizations don’t have to waste time, effort and money and have a leg to stand on legally if this happens!!

North to Vernon or some could race in bottom level at M1 it's gotten so cheap there.  Possibly Ocean Downs too.

That’s a private business I believe and I don’t think the state can mandate anything.

duh--the state subsidizes the purses

if they stop that-then it closes

so NJ does have the final say

if Pennwood could have closed the place-it would have happened years ago

What makes you believe the subsidy will end anytime soon.?

Freehold and M1 subsidies are legislated in the same package

so if freehold's subsidy ends-so does M1

its a package deal

not sure how much more i can dumb this down for you
