Allywag Hanover retired
« on: September 18, 2024, 01:43:28 PM »
So long to an incredibly tough war horse that raced at the top level at 3, 4, 5, and 6. Did not seem to have it this year at 7 so looks like they made the right choice. I am sure they could have made another 100-200K racing him in opens and winners over for the next few years so kudos to the owners to let him go out with dignity.  He was truly unstoppable at 4 and just when he was written off at 5 he stunned the Bulldog in that 146 mile at the Red Mile.

Well said Laag. He isn't on the goat list but a great carrer. 2.3 million in earnings.. I hope he enjoys a long retirement. They probably could have raced him for several more years and especially because he's a gelding and made more then what you mentioned. This is the way it should be.

He is up there in that special war horse group that competed for multiple years at the top level like Boulder Creek, Mister Big, Won The West, Shark Gesture.  Each had big time major wins and times. All had such an incredible grit and determination and even if they didnt win every race they were always involved. Cannot say that about alot of FFAs especially the current crop
