I just downloaded a program. Pretty sorry drivers colony. I'll take a look while watching the Bills game in 18 inches of snow
Since you don't follow the track, most of them aren't household names to you. Some are good drivers for the Delaware circuit and make a decent living without traveling. The purses in Delaware are much better than the ones at Harrah's Philly, and on a par with Pocono, and the competition is weaker, so an owner and driver can make money which is the bottom line.
A few years back it was very good. But now? There are a lot of below average drivers.Outside of Tony Morgan and Corey Callahan, the driver colony is pretty thin. Nap and Timmy aren't always there. Callahan seems to be in decline.Pat Berry and Allan Davis are not good drivers and win with juiced horses. Wolfenden, Morand and Teague do not drive many races, though they seem to show up on Thursday when they have much higher quality races.Where is Victor Kirby? He often went dead in races.
I'd describe allan Davis ability as good enough to successfully avoid finishing 1st but really really bad at making it look honest
Allan loves to stay in the class with certain horses. Been doing it for years and judges just turn the other cheek! Been called out on it multiple times and business go's on as usual.
He drives alot of the horses owned and trained by either Tyler or Brendan Davis so it's a family affair. Alan and Tetrick seem to be buddy buddy, because after alot of the races, on their way back to the stable area they're always having a conversation with each other. Alan is a big talker which is a Davis family tradition.
When you follow any circuit you know what drivers you can bet and the ones you can't. In most cases the better trainers use the better drivers. Pat Berry and Alan Davis are good drivers on that circuit, and they almost always leave and put their horses in good position to win. Berry drives alot of horses for Bobby Glassmeyer who had multiple positive tests last year, and Berry's wife Tracy wins at a very high % so my guess is she's juicing but hasn't been caught. As for Vic Kirby, he's not getting many catch drives these days, has a small stable of trotters he partially owns, and in my opinion is finished.
I agree with everything. Allan Davis is aggressive and I have made money with him because he can fire one out from the start. I've always assumed that Glassmeyer/Berry are connected.I used to love playing Dover, but for me, I just look at the Thursday cards now.
