I haven't gone to MR other than for NYSS races for many, many years. I've long heard----what I say are fables and myths----about trainers and drivers who make their living through the windows. It has to be, right? They can't make money on those purses and economics. I say it's BS. I've been around this sport and business a long time. I know a lot of people. I don't know very many at all that go from "loss" to break-even or a profit simply because of them making money through the windows. One week, one month, you make a score, you get ahead, you did out, whatever. But either someone is making an ROR on legit betting, or what? They are fixing races? Betting on inside information? They have an edge? Some advantage? At MR I think there is very little to no chance.
Nobody, who knows a thing about business, owner, trainer, or breeder, is going to incorporate their "through the windows" dollars and add it to their bottom line. No way. I don't care if you are making money or losing money, if you are a trainer, you know what it costs you to have a horse in the barn. You know what you charge for the daily rate. Either you are green or red. Now you want to include gambling? Good luck with that. I don't know one trainer in the sport who is a sharper handicapper and bettor than the pro's that I know.
Someone who races a horse there---name me a trainer and give me his/hers daily rate.
