I just looked at meadowlands schedule and now I know Jeff gural you are an asshole.  You are not helping freehold horseman by adding 6-8 Sunday cards. You are an asshole. Let’s first everyone’s Sunday dinner. Have Sunday racing at 5. Wow stupid has gone stupider.. why can’t you race Thursday nights for freehold or Wednesday and Thursday to help horseman. What is racing Sunday for only 6-8 weeks gonna do.  I’m sure everyone on east coast is thrilled.  I hope meadowlands closes next  you and that asshole settlemoir   Belong together  I’m glad I’m not anywhere close to these east tracks

I get the feeling you're a lot closer than you're letting on. But I get you, missing sunday dinner sucks.

If it didn’t affect him, he wouldn’t be this angry. Definitely a New Jersey Horseman!  But yes it does suck.  Hope no one bets a dime!

Hahaha close in pa.  But have made my way to freehold and meadowlands on occasion.  But racing 6-8 sundays and that’s it helps nobody. I’ll be eating Sunday dinner with family not wasting all day in Jersey

It's about helping the horsemen stay alive and by extension support Jeff's track and the industry as a whole. Of which Jeff is positioned to make a fortune. In stark contrast to the horsemen who struggle to make a living, all while working 12 hour days seven days a week. So yes, it would've been nice to come up with some race dates that made sense to all involved. I certainly get the guy's frustration.

1st, the Meadowlands schedule has nothing to do with Freehold or Freeholds closing. It's the same amount of racing as 2024, (dates just moved around) with no racing in October & November this year.

2nd, You said you don't watch the Meadowlands anyway!

3rd, you don't care about Freehold or their horsemen, you wanted Freehold closed.

The horse population is at it's highest now. Thursday night has no US Harness tracks. A few decent races with 10 horse field should do well. If you card all crap the handle reflects it.

C'mon Gary, it's Sundays February 2, 16 and 23 and all 5 sundays in March,  with no pool guarantees.

"I’m glad I’m not anywhere close to these east tracks."

You aren't, so who cares what you think.
Why so angry about something that doesn't affect you?

  • dougie: I will make another point if I may. There are multiple horse owners in this group. LUCPARK, rainman2, and so many others. many here are very successful owning horses. I and my partners were not. But I can't believe people who do well in the game and folks like me who didn't cant agree that the horses should be treated humanely. The history of Mike P. might be interesting to people. And folks on Plop might dislike him for a myriad of reasons. I know nothing about him but his advocacy. I think I can seperate the misdeeds everyone talks about from his desire to help these horses.

  • dougie: Calhoun, I am not surprised at anyone who doesn't share my opinion. Everyone has the right to their own point of view. As for whatever acts you mentioned=Ed that he might have committed, it should not draw away from his horses advocacy. Many folks have done lots of things wrong. But despite that, should the good things they do be li=jumped into their misdeeds? Is a person to be judgedf on their worst day or instinct? Like I mentioned before, I don't know of the man. But I have studied up on him. I cannot answer for the things you and others seem to know about him as a human being. But I will continue to support his efforts to make the treatment of horses more humane.

  • Calhoun: Doug, Legit horse welfare advocacy is good. But your hero's current iteration is his 3rd such "alliance." You want to know why, DM me your email. You want to support the guy who baits working people into taking a swipe at him, good for you. You want to support the guy who steps behind a 75 yo man and lets that guy take a punch meant for him, go for it. You called me every name in the book, that;s ok. But your opinion is just that. But it's disingenuous to act surprised that others don't share your opinion.

  • dougie: I think that people should applaud anyone interested in the welfare of horses. Carriage or racing horses. To this day, I've never understood the venom spewed against a guy who seems to want to clean up racing. Some might question his motive for his advocacy. But why would anyone care if the result benefits the horses? If you attack the "messenger' in a cause, shouldn't the detractors have a valid reason why they attack him. Or is it only personable. I never met Mike. But I think his wanting to do the right thing is admirable.
