Talent is there. Attitude is positive. The Miles on his car to drive at any track anywhere are infinite. 600+ wins at 22 is crazy. So there will always be varying opinions when it comes to Bret. His father continues to survive in the business after a rap sheet that makes John Gotti look like an Eagle Scout. But he finally landed at a track that not only accepts his continued crimes, but praises them. How can Mark be barred from multiple tracks in NY with threat of arrest if he sets foot on the property, and have a .400+ training % at one? It's simple. And Bret benefits from that criminal enterprise for sure. But he also wins at Batavia and other tracks so don't pigeonhole him. Saratoga embraces absolute the worst of the worst when it comes to trainers. The judges will DQ 100 horses by spring for pylon violations, and not piss test any of the 100 drug addict trainers in the paddock. How do Beckwith, Derue, Podres, McCassey or any of the others get away with not having to piss in a cup? The box would be very short if that ever happens so don't expect it any time soon. When will the first Melissa Beckwith horse come up dirty for testosterone for the 8th time? Saratoga is back, and 2025 may be a little different in the driver standings. But Bret will finish on the top and it will be well deserved.

The purses for overnight races were higher back then plus they raced 6 nights a week. They also had alot of early closing series. The purses for stakes races were comparable if not higher than they are now, and when you factor in inflation, they were significantly higher back then.

Agreed! Brett has worlds of talent. Just think his drive at 1 to 9 today was fishy at best.  MARK should drive the horses that situation keep your kid away from that!! On another note regardless of the positives etc Mark works his ass off!

Blue Skies you are right. Some of these other people on here don't have a clue what goes on at a lot of racetracks.

Pissing in a cup?

Horses?
Trainers?
Both?

Please clarify!

I’ll explain. JC has amassed $330 million and has won MAJOR races all over the world. The kid has talent but no in that league

People, the kid is 22 years old. Why do we need to put labels on his career at this point.
He puts his nose down and works hard. He is willing to travel and earn his stripes.
Top trainers like Burke put him on their horses, enough said.
How about we just enjoy watching him mature, do well and see what happens.
Nothing wrong with comparing him to today's drivers that he competes with, but to John Campbell? Stop it would you please.
I bet even Brett would respectfully dismiss and pivot away, cause he has that "it" factor as a pro.
He is building his resume towards competing on the biggest stage. Tough not to root for a kid like this, who handles himself with grace and class.
