Helmet cams and microphones for all drivers.
« on: February 08, 2025, 02:55:39 PM »
I was thinking, thanks to the dishonest drivers and trainers it's obvious that the betting public has lost faith in harness racing.

Why not have all drivers equipped with a helmet cam and microphone so that betting public can actually listen and see what goes on during a race. Could you imagine watching a split screen where you could actually see the race and then listen to the drivers and see the race through their perspectives of what's going on.

Our sport needs to try something new and refreshing because what they're doing is not working.

Not to be confused with HAKU.

Speaking of electronics, is it legal for the driver to wear an earpiece and receive instructions from the owner or trainer during the running of the race?

Back when Case was unbeatable some claimed he had a zapper in his boot.

Really wouldn't doubt it.  It's a shame to watch him now just a shadow of what he was.  But was really that good or was the competition not that good?

especially if the horses he drove on the card weren’t tested for blood gas because the trainers were tipped off prior.

WHY NOT HAVE THEM TAKE AN OATH  THAT EVERYTHING THEY DO WILL BE HONEST AND REPUTABLE FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THE SPORT? LIKE THE OATH DOCTORS AND COPS HAVE TO TAKE TO BE LICENSED.  IF THEY DON'T DO THIS. NO LICENSE

It's like when the President takes the Oath of Office when he's being sworn in, it lasts about 10 minutes until he tells his first lie. Cops lie all the time, so that oath means nothing.

No. If allowed, it certainly wouldn't---and shouldn't---be the owner.

AH Life on the race track!
I loved it!
Back 30/40 years ago Daryl Busse would drive some horses for me.
Busse "I like driving your horses, but you keep that one owner of your's (Colonel Bob) away from me. I don't need that S O B telling me what I should do, or what I should have done".
So the next time a horse of Colonel Bob's is in I  tell Busse.
"You know Colonel Bob is an old stock car man. He brought along his stock car flags. When he waves the green you are to pull and go. If he is waving the white you are to sit in the hole, and if". As Busse is going to the track, and before I could finish, Busse is screaming "You tell that MFer to stick his flags up his ass"!

That is another guy that always seemed to get just a little more out of a horse. And yes Case was that good. If he had a zapper in a boot someone would have given the valet a $100 to get ahold of one. Just to get rid of Case. Yes he loved to brush a hock with his boot but he was an early one to figure out that most raceway horses were whip sour and that gave him an advantage
