As a Mainer, I will tell you that Gov. Mills is popular enough to take on President Trump. This state is as "Blue" as California with little opposition from GOPer's like myself. We have one of the highest tax burdens. But we love living here even though it uber-progressive. If President Trump succeeds and withholds all federal funds, Maine will be in trouble. I think in the end.....Gov. Mills will "cave", before the President does what he said today.

If the state was as blue as California Susan Collin’s wouldn’t be a Senator.  Imagine a President that wants to punish every citizen that doesn’t agree with him. A total sociopath who takes glee in other people suffering. He will be beyond underwater in the polls in 1 more month.

Thank you Mr President for tanking the stock market today, highest prices in eggs ever (day 1 they were going down, higher grocery prices, increased inflation, increased unemployment. Also thank you for making consumer confidence lowest in months. Thank you firing disabled veterans and those people who do cancer research. And thanks for siding with Putin against that dictator Zelensky because Putin has so many free and fair elections. They so fair that sometimes his political opponents sometimes accidently fal out windows. thank you for funneling millions of dollars to yourself thru crypto i mean after sleepy joe according to you stole 500k. I believe you deserve many multitudes of that. And lastly thank you for declaring yourself the King. In fact you’re the best King we have had since King George!

Like Elon and Donald always for censorship when someone doesn’t have their viewpoint. Elon wants criminal charges against sixty minutes and constantly takes down posts on X he doesnt like. Donald hates the free press.

Sorry The Unstable, as someone who lives here, we all know it's one of the bluest states in the nation. Susan Collins is the rare exception to the rule. Her family has deep roots in the community. Her family has been in northern Maine for over 200 years. Her work as a Senator has brought hundreds of millions of government contracts to the Bath Iron Works. She is beloved more as a "Mainer" than a Republican. As for the rest of Maine's political delegation, from school boards to local state reps., it is solid blue. Has been.....always will be.

You're going to need 5K extra to cover all the increased cost of everything.

Jupiter, you could be right. Maine is over taxed already due to it'd ultra-liberal policies. It's an amazingly beautiful state and very rural. Except in summer. LOL!

Do you know that Elon, the former illegal immigrant Musk sent a termination letter to a 30 yo former Army vet who was working for the government and had stellar employment reviews.  So the South African and the President who avoided the military are doing this to our Vets, cutting VA hospitals with no oversight or plan.

This is happening over and over.

Musk is a sociopath billionaire who actually takes glee in firing everyday working people while he lines his pockets with government money.  They have no idea who they are even firing. Imagine he actually wanted to make the government efficient by actually looking at what people do and actually having some empathy.

But the cruelty is the point and a means to the end to more power.  Watch the town halls in Red States as the people are turning on this fast.  They didn’t expect their loved ones to be fired after dedicating their lives to public service overnight.  They thought they were signing up for lower egg prices, groceries and inflation all that he promised on day one not higher prices tariffs etc. That’s why consumer sentiment in just one month plunged 7 points to the lowest it has been since November 2023.

Only the beginning. Wait until you pay around 9K for a new car, businesses close because they can’t help, businesses close because inflation like never seen before leaves people with peanuts, government shutdown in March, etc, etc.

Oh, and thank you for jinxing the US hockey team. You think you would’ve learned after what happened to the Chiefs.

It's a hard thing to say, but The Unstable does make some valid points. I am against the "wholesale" firings and "gutting" of complete departments. As a GOPer i understand that our nation, run by unelected bureaucrats, with a deep political agenda must be revamped and reduced. President Trump must be made to understand that while he is getting rid of the partisan hacks within government, there are many innocent taxpaying Americans caught up in the "purge". This is unfair, unjust, and immoral.

Very well said. I think no one wants waste but Trump and Musk are the wrong people to be fixing it. Trump is instinctively smart but vindictive and mentally unstable.  Musk is a total sociopath with autism who treats his ex wives and children awfully and is  mentally abusive. Neither have any empathy.

I don't normally get into political conversations on here, but give me a break. The guy has been in office for 1 month. Rome wasn't built in a day to use your king analogy. When the government starts sending out the $5,000 checks to us hard working taxpayers from the savings by DOGE, I will gladly take any of you left wingers check.

To date, the amount of money doge has “saved” would equal $11 per taxpayer

Please provide proof of this statement.

Yesterday Trump opened up millions of acres of land for drilling.  That is worth countess trillions.

jdogg1977, there is little doubt that the bloated US government spends taxpayer money on outrageously stupid partisan projects on both sides of the aisle. But both Presidents Biden and Obama made many speeches on what they viewed as wasteful spending on programs that didn't make sense. Problem is, it's hard to cut programs, personally, and spending that might anger your voters. So Trump comes along and instead of doing it gently, he uses a chainsaw to get the job done. As a GOPer, I am not in favor of how the President is doing the cuts. He needs to be more understanding and humane to the Americans whose lives are being affected.
